Major Updates and Miracles

So much cool stuff has been happening with the new building in the past few weeks! Some of these things are purely practical. For instance, we had a locksmith rekey all the doors in the building (about 40 doors) for both security and ease of use. We also had a new internet service provider wire up the building for fiber optic WiFi service throughout the property. These may not be the most exciting updates, but they are necessary steps in having a fully functional congregational home.

Yesterday, Sunday May 3, we had our first congregational work day at the new building. Lots of volunteers showed up to clean up, clean out, paint, and organize various rooms and belongings. We focussed mostly on the old chapel (the oldest part of the building on the east end of the property) which was built in the early 1940's. A lot of progress was made and once we finish painting and replacing the carpets, the Bayview UCC congregation (the ones who gifted the building to BMS) will be able to have all their congregational meetings in there, allowing BMS to use the sanctuary and fellowship hall for our various Sunday morning events (men's and ladies' fellowships, work days, etc.). We envision using the chapel for smaller gatherings like worship nights and coffee house outreaches in the future too. We're getting there! Here are a few photos from the day:

Let's finish this update with a report of a true miracle. In the last building project update, we announced the BMS Building Fund which was launched in order to raise money for our Phase 1 building projects (roof replacement, bathroom remodeling, sanctuary updates, sound and projection equipment, etc.). The goal was $200,000. Several people started giving faithfully toward that fund (baruch HaShem!) and we're ecstatic to report that, with the help of one particularly generous gift, we have met that goal almost instantly! It's amazing to see G-d's faithfulness over and over toward our community, through His people. It's a sign indicating G-d's favor and blessing over this work, that was established for His glory, and for the salvation of Israel and the whole world. What an honor it is to be part of what He's doing in and through Beth Messiah!
